PRESS RELEASE

The 10th edition of the State School IT Fest is all set to happen at Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram on 1st & 2nd February 2012, says K.Anvar Sadath, Executive Director, IT@School Project. The 2-day event would witness as many as 500 participants including students from all districts of the State, who have secured the first and second place In the school & sub-district level competitions. Competitions would be exclusively conducted for High School, Higher Secondary and Vocational Higher Secondary sections. Competitions on Digital Painting, IT Project, Multimedia Presentation, IT Quiz, Malayalam Computing and Web Page Designing would be held at the four venues in Technopark. The mega event is completely undertaken on Free Software platform. Technopark, the IT Hub of the State would host the State IT Fest for the fifth consecutive year, which is a benchmark for itself. Unlike the common school fests, the State IT Fest is being conducted in the form of an IT Camp, thereby enabling the students to interact with the academicians, eminent personalities and technocrats in IT field. Mr.Satheesh Babu, Director of IC-FOSS would deliver an interactive session on 'Emerging trends in Mobil Computing' at 2.30 PM on 1st February 2012. The same day would also witness another interactive session on 'Green Computing' by Dr.Achut Shanker, Honorary Director, Center for Bio-Informatics, University of Kerala, which would be held at 4 PM. Interactive classroom sessions on ICT enabled subjects would also be part of the IT Fest 2012.

Prize Distribution

Shri.Oommen Chandy, Hon. Chief Minister of Kerala would be inaugurating the Prize distribution ceremony at 4 PM on 2nd February 2012 at the Travancore Hall of Park Center at Technopark. Shri.P.K.Abdu Rabb, Hon. Minister for Education, Govt of Kerala would preside over the function, which would also include dedicating the E-India Award received by IT@School Project to the student community and also showcasing of the animation films prepared by students. The function would also be attended by Shri.M.A.Vahid MLA, Smt. Ramani.P.Nair, District Panchayat President, Shri.M.Sivasankar IAS, Secretary, General Education Department, Shri.A.Shajahan IAS, Director of Public Instruction, Shri. P S Mohammed Sagir IAS, Director Higher Secondary Education, Shri. Abdul Rahman M, Director, Vocational Higher Secondary Education and by Shri. Girish Babu, CEO of Technopark. For the first time in the history of State IT Fest, the results of the competitions, pictures and videos would be made available to the public on real time through the portal www.itfest.itschool.gov.in . Special one-hour bulletins on IT Fest 2012 would also be aired on IT@School VICTERS channel on 1st & 2nd February at 2 PM and 8 PM. The participation for the State IT Fest 2012 is limited to invited students, teachers and guests.
